The
Council on Engineering (COE) held its annual Technology
Executives Conference (a Division Leadership Training conference)
at the Hyatt Regency in Pittsburgh, on March 5-7, 2004.
The Conference was well attended with representation from
all 37 Technical Divisions. Additional participants this
year included the CMA Regional VPs and the ASME LDIs (Leadership
Development Interns).
KEYNOTE:
This year's Keynote Speaker, Mr. Ricardo 'Ric' Perez, Senior VP of Westinghouse
Nuclear Services, delivered an outstanding talk on "Maintaining
Operational Excellence while undergoing significant Organizational Change".
He shared some actual experiences from Westinghouse while undergoing organizational
changes over the past years and shared some lessons learned that may be
of benefit to ASME.
POSTER SESSION:
A
successful addition to the program this year was the Division
Poster Session. Each Technical Division displayed a poster
highlighting its current products, services, and best practices.
A Q&A session and Technical Group workshops followed
to discuss the posters and explore common division activities.
TWO TRACKS: First-Timers and Senior Leaders
The TEC continued its two-track program as started last year - A First Timers
track, and a Senior Track. The First-timers Track is designed to enable incoming
leaders to guide ASME units; the Senior Track is designed to gain the synergy
of senior leaders to unveil best practices useful in unit planning and operations.
